Education
The CPAL is committed to moving Louisiana’s disability services system forward by building a strong professional workforce and educating policymakers about our industry. We endeavor to provide education, information, and training relevant to a variety of stakeholders. In 2023, these activities included:
Holding monthly First Friday calls and two general membership meetings in Alexandria and Baton Rouge.
Sponsoring a forum for gubernatorial candidates in July 2023.
Serving as a liaison between CPAL members and federal and state administration officials on regulatory issues such as the HCBS Settings Rule and the HCBS Access Rule.
Education Spotlight
We hosted our first-ever CPAL Gubernatorial Forum in July 2023 and were pleased to have five of the major candidates for governor attend: Senator Sharon Hewitt, Hunter Lundy, Representative Richard Nelson, Treasurer John Schroder, and Secretary Shawn Wilson. The candidates spoke directly to CPAL members about their experience with individuals with disabilities and their plans to support our industry if elected. In turn, CPAL members had the opportunity to educate the candidates about our priorities and challenges.
